Hey everyone thought I would check in once more and talk a little about the hash tags I added to my tweetdeck. I picked two for now will go back later and look over a few more that look like they might be interesting. #lessonplans and #edtech were the two I added. Who can't use lesson plans to help differentiate in the classroom and with this class being fresh in my mind how could I pass up one about edtech. Hope to see you on either of these later.

Week 4 - Last Blog Post - Google Docs
That is pretty cool. I can see some really neat uses for google doc. I have taken a couple classes on all the different things offered by google, google chrome and all things google all are very cool. If you have not taken the time to really check out all the items they offer you are missing out. One of the best things about using items found from google is that you know you are safe because of the name google. A lot of times I am leery of some sites because of there motives (ie advertising, selling me something, or give access until the very end then want you to pay). Some of the site scare me because of viruses were google really dies not want the negative stuff associated with their name. There really so much that they offer it was nice to go back and look through it again. Sometimes I just get too much stuff from these sites and forget some of the good stuff that I have not see in a while. Google, great resource teachers and students.

Curriculum Video
OMG what a pain in the you know what! I am not sure if it was me or the computer but I had nothing but troubles doing this assignment. (funny my coworker who has the same computer had a lot of the same problems) I was very excited about this and want to learn it from the very beginning. I hope you enjoy the video I know there are a couple of slides that have problems but the computer would not let me do anything. Evey time I tried to do anything the computer would lock up and I would have to restart. Sometimes that would not even help. the Movie Maker would not start and then I would have to power off and walk away for a couple hours. So sad and confusing for me. Hope you guys have a better experience.
When it come to editing I combined 4 pictures into one pic and also tried to enhance other photos to make them bigger and smaller to fit what I needed. Very basic but did not really need to much. One tem I thought I should mention: I the movie I know the definition slide of poetry is very small and hard to read. This was done on purpose, I did not want the students to really read a dictionary definition. Thanks for viewing my movie.

Hey everyone thanks for the tweet up last night I think it went really well. I don't know if it was better than just an online chat but it was fast and fun to read everything. I did find that it moved really fast and for a slow typer like me was almost too fast. By the time I typed out something and remembered the hashtag the conversation had changed. One question that I did have was how do you create a hashtag? I did not get that information or forgot. Thanks again everyone. I hope I got all the requirements completed for the tweetup, thought I did but everything moved so fast. Ahhh!
Pod cast blog that I read past? oops
So I did look over the podcasts I had been looking at them prior to this class. I find them to be pretty neat but can take a while to find what you are really looking for. If anyone knows a better way to look through all these I would like to know. For fun I subscribed to the TMZ podcast, need to keep up with the popculture for my students. It was kinda funny but just for my own interest.
The other casts that I signed up for was Science Friday i just thought it was interesting and thought i could use it while teaching my science classes. Reading Strategies I, and 92nd street Y- unterberg Poetry Center from iTunes U where interesting and I really hope to get more good information from the Reading Strategies I. As for getting information I think this can be a valuable resource but it does take some time to find what you might need. The other thing I was thinking about is how dependable are these podcasts? I guess like anything else you have to be careful and double check everything.
All in all can be a great resource but can be boring for students but others are done very well and intertaining. So take your time and at least give it a look at for what you need, I think it can be hit or miss or just a lot to look at. Might be good to tweet to see if anyone has certain podcasts that people have found and really like.
One other thing, I notice that the podcasts that I signed up for on one computer was not on all computers. Is this not an web based item or is it purely computer by computer. Was a little confused.

Hey, I was already a follower of Richard Byrne’s twitter account. Great minds...and all I guess. His blog was very cool and very help full. I liked that he could explain things about the links that he has instead of just having a huge list of links like others that I have been to. A lot of times the links are a huge waste of time and you have to spend more time searching through them to even find one usable one. This would have to be the most informative blog, (besides our wonderful teachers) that I have seen. It was easy to navigate and clean and not cluttered with tons of junk, at least on the left hand of the page. It was kind of cool to have already seen a lot that he had to offer makes me feel like I am getting around the web pretty well.
As for using a blog like this at my school it is not allowed. We are not allowed to go outside the schools own gaggle account. We had tried to keep a class blog to keep notes and assignments for students and study hall teachers to look at but we were told no. Sometimes they are block by the server and kids cannot get to them or they just had too many problems I guess. Are school is starting to purchase or develop their own versions of blogs but now they are pushing a new product this year called Angel. Angel is just like the Blackboard system we use for this class. I have even been told that Blackboard has purchased Angel and next year there could be a bunch of changes coming. Ah technology you just have to love it.

We had tried to keep a class blog to keep notes and assignments for students and study hall teachers to look at but we were told no. Week three blog post one
this video that I found gives pictures from the great depression with little commentary. I thought the pictures were very powerful and would really be helpful for the students to understand the times. We are currently reading To Kill a Mockingbird and these pictures are very helpful for them to understand just how bad it was then. I think a lot of them hear the comparisons of the Great Depression and to today's economy and they don;t get it or are confused.
I really liked this resource. I found a lot to use and gave it out to a lot of other teachers right away, which I got a lot of thank yous for. So thanks for turning me on to this site I will be using it often.

Animoto video
Here is my Animoto video. The pictures that I edited on picnic are the two pictures of the people and I did the basics. Cropped and enhanced the photos (don't have a lot of photos to really use). I had fun with the Animoto process but did learn one thing. I thing next time I use this in class I will have the kids create a story board first of what they want to create. I had a hard time deciding what to use and not to use. I really needed to shorten my thought process to keep on track. All in all fun process.

Tagxedo/wordle
In the classroom we have used them a couple of times for the students to fill with descriptions of books, characters, and feeling towards a topic. Another use that we have done was to copy different famous speeches and come pare them to see if students could tell which belonged to which speaker. That was a little interesting to me. What else you got fellow students, help me see the light.
